2022-23 Board Spiritual Theme

“We, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members, one of another.” (Romans 12:5)

This year, our Pastoral Theme is entitled, Catholic Education: We are Many, We are One. Our focus is aligned with the OCSTA Catholic Education Week Theme. At BHNCDSB, we are a dedicated, faith-filled, Catholic education community who see, listen, reflect, learn, and act together!

The five key sub-themes we will explore throughout this year are as follows:

When we see. “Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8
When we listen. “Be quick to listen and slow to speak.” James 1:19
When we reflect. “I considered these things inwardly, and pondered them in my heart.” Wisdom 8:17
When we learn. “Let the wise also hear and gain in learning, and the discerning acquire skill.” Proverbs 1:5
When we act. “I by my works will show you my faith.” James 2:18

Prayer for Theme

We are many, we are one; we all form one body in Christ.
Lord,
when we see the one before us, let us reverence your presence within;
when we listen to one another, let us hear with our hearts;
when we reflect on each encounter, may we discern to understand;
when we learn from those around us, let us respect our differences with joy;
and when we act, may we be kind and generous to all,
for each person is a member of your body, with all that they are.
We are many, we are one.
Amen.

This year, we will continue to support the faith formation of staff and students by emphasizing the importance of building an interior prayer life, using Scripture to deepen our understanding of rebuilding, restoring, renewing as found in the Gospel narratives, and reaching out to our neighbours in need. Resources and training dedicated to improving our ability to be Catechists and strengthening home, school and parish relationships will be a focus.
