Assumption College Student Joins the Loran Scholar Community

April 16, 2026 (Brantford) – The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is proud to announce that Madison Davey, a student from Assumption College School, has been named a 2026 Loran Scholar.

This year, the Loran Scholars Foundation selected 36 exceptional youth from more than 5,400 applicants from across Canada who have demonstrated that they have embraced the challenge of leaving the world better than they found it. As graduating high school and Cégep students, the pursuits and accomplishments of the newest Loran Award recipients are exemplary, but it is their values-driven approach to leading and their dedication to uplifting their communities that distinguish them as Loran Scholars.

“Assumption College School is incredibly proud of Madison for being selected as a 2026 Loran Scholar,” said ACS Principal Darren Duff. “This remarkable achievement reflects her exceptional leadership, character, and deep commitment to serving others within our school community and beyond.”

The Loran Award, offered in partnership with 25 Canadian universities, is valued at more than $100,000 over four years of undergraduate study. Beyond financial support and tuition waivers at one of its university partners, Loran Scholars also take part in a comprehensive four-year leadership development program and gain access to a national network of values-driven peers, mentors, and opportunities unlike any other in Canada.

“It’s truly an honour to be selected as a Loran Scholar,” shared Madison Davey. “It is still hard to believe this is real. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and honoured to become part of the incredible Loran Scholar community. This award will open doors and create opportunities I never imagined possible. I am so thankful to my family, my school, and my community for their encouragement and for helping shape me into the person I am today.”

With plans to attend either the University of Toronto or Western University this fall, Madison is taking the opportunity this week to connect with Loran alumni who have attended both institutions to learn more about their experiences and help inform her decision.

Madison has previously been honoured by the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation for her leadership in the national “Imagine a Canada” program. Working with students from Assumption College and St. John’s College, she helped create a mural inspired by the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address. The “Imagine a Canada” initiative invites youth across the country to share their vision for reconciliation through art, writing, or community projects.
