Brantford, ON – Students and staff from local area schools joined the Child Nutrition Network (CNN) of Haldimand Norfolk R.E.A.C.H. to take part in the first annual Smile Cookie Decorating Contest.
As part of the 2026 Smile Cookie Campaign, the first annual Smile Cookie Decorating Contest was held at Tim Hortons, Argyle Street, in Caledonia on Monday, April 27. The event featured representatives from seven Caledonia-area schools who decorated cookies in support of this important cause.
“Tim Hortons’ support has truly made a difference to our area nutrition programs,” said Sharon Smyth, Community Facilitator at the CNN. “Their help isn’t just a contribution, but rather a lasting gesture that shows how much they truly care about the health and well-being of local students.”
The Child Nutrition Network (CNN) plays a vital role in helping nourish more than 10,000 students through breakfast, lunch and snack programs across Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. Through leadership, community involvement and partnerships, CNN strives to ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast and snacks, enhancing their well-being and supporting their ability to thrive in school.
One of the ways CNN raises funds to support these vital student nutrition programs is through the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign. This annual campaign raises much-needed funds for local charities and community groups, with 100% of proceeds from Smile Cookies sold at participating Tim Hortons locations donated to designated organizations.
We are proud to share that St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary School Principal Amy Smith earned first place for her uniquely decorated pink and blue cookie, earning her a custom wooden “Spoonie” trophy handcrafted by Scattering Blessings.
“The Smile Cookie Contest at the Argyle Street Tim Hortons was full of fun, friendly competition and community spirit,” said Principal Amy Smith.
“There were great opponents, including our very own Director of Education, who represented Pope Francis Catholic Elementary School. I would like to thank everyone who came out to vote and helped crown St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary School the official winner of the first-ever Smile Cookie Decorating Contest.”
“Student well-being is foundational to learning, and access to nutritious food helps ensure students are ready to learn each day,” said Mike McDonald, Director of Education for the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board. “We are grateful to the Child Nutrition Network, Tim Hortons, and all community partners who continue to invest in programs that directly support local students and families. Initiatives like this reflect the power of community coming together to care for children in meaningful ways.”
Smile Cookies are available until May 3, and customers can check with their local Tim Hortons to learn which charity their purchase supports.
