BHNCDSB Appoints Toni Poirier as Trustee Representing Haldimand County

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 14, 2026 (Brantford) – The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Toni Poirier as Trustee representing Haldimand County.

Mrs. Poirier was officially appointed by the Board of Trustees through the Board’s trustee vacancy process and will serve the BHNCDSB as a representative of the Haldimand community for the remainder of the current term of office.

A long-time resident of Caledonia, Mrs. Poirier brings a strong connection to Catholic education through both lived experience and service. She is a recently retired Grade 8 teacher, having dedicated more than three decades to Catholic education, including many years with BHNCDSB at Notre Dame Catholic Elementary School supporting student success, school leadership and family engagement.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to welcome Toni Poirier as Trustee representing Haldimand County,” shared Chair of the Board, Carol Luciani. “Her commitment to Catholic education, her long-standing service to students and families, and her deep faith and community ties will be an asset to our Board and to the communities we serve. We would also like to thank all applicants who participated in the trustee vacancy process. We wish to acknowledge our appreciation and thank them for their commitment to Catholic Education.”

Throughout her career, Mrs. Poirier has been recognized as a leader who is committed to student well-being, strong learning environments, and faith-centred school communities. Her experience includes involvement in system-level initiatives and committees, including transition planning, mentoring new educators, and programming that supports student engagement and pathways.

BHNCDSB Director of Education, Mike McDonald, congratulated Mrs. Poirier sharing that “Mrs. Poirier brings meaningful experience and a strong understanding of Catholic education. We look forward to her contribution to the district and her dedication to the BHNCDSB as a representative of Haldimand County.”

Mrs. Poirier has also been an active member of the local Catholic community through St. Patrick’s Parish, where her family has received the Sacraments and remained engaged in parish life.

The Board looks forward to Mrs. Poirier’s contribution to Catholic education and to ongoing collaboration in support of student achievement, belonging, and well-being across the system.
