Celebrating Student Achievement Through Scholarships and Awards

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board is celebrating the academic excellence of students from the 2025 – 2026 school year, recognizing outstanding achievement, perseverance, and commitment to learning. This year’s scholarship and award recipients reflect the dedication, talent, and leadership found across BHNCDSB schools.

Alexandra Wodham of Holy Trinity Catholic High School has been awarded the Jonathan Brown Foundation Scholarship, presented to a student who demonstrates exceptional perseverance, resilience, and academic achievement in the face of adversity. Her accomplishment highlights the strength and determination that define this honour.

Wenqi Sun of Assumption College School has earned the University of Toronto National Scholarship, the institution’s most prestigious award for Canadian high school students. The scholarship recognizes original thinkers, community leaders, and students with outstanding academic performance.

Assumption College students Sajid Monowar and Arham Hasan have each received the Hillier Award. The award is presented to students who have shown a strong interest in scientific research, have been accepted into a post-secondary institution with an accredited science or technology program, and have expressed their intention to pursue scientific or technological careers.

Assumption College School student Seerat Virk has been named the first-place winner of the Laurier Stedman Prize for her short story The Same Wind. The prize is one of Canada’s most significant creative writing awards for secondary students and recognizes exceptional literary talent and creativity.

The Board extends its sincere congratulations to these students for their remarkable achievements and contributions to their school communities. Their success reflects the values of dedication, curiosity, and faith that guide Catholic education across Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk.
