‘These Walls Can Sing’ Opens Today!

Brantford ON – “These Walls Can Sing” is a celebration of Canadian music that features 130 paintings created by BHNCDSB students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The interactive exhibit opens today at Lynnwood Arts in Simcoe. The concept is for student artists to interpret a Canadian song in a painting. In the gallery, the paintings are all labelled with QR codes that link the painting to the music. People are encouraged to bring headphones and their device to interact with the art.

In addition to the student works, there are paintings by some prominent Canadian singer/songwriters participating in the project including: Lawrence Gowan, Fred Penner, Ian Bell and the Good Lovelies. Even some BHN staff have created works for this show.

The art show will be ‘singing from the walls’ until February 2024. During this time teachers will have the opportunity to bring their classes to the show for interactive music and visual art workshops with BHNCDSB’s Arts Consultant, Chris Rait and special guest artists.

In mid-February, all of the art will be auctioned off through Shakelton Auctions with the proceeds being donated to Saint Vincent de Paul Society.
