2026-27 Board Spiritual Theme

Catholic Education: Becoming Artisans of Peace.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
(Matthew 5:9)

This year, our Pastoral Theme is entitled, Catholic Education: Becoming Artisans of Peace.

Our focus is aligned with the 2027 OCSTA Catholic Education Week Theme. The theme invites all of us in the BHNCDSB to grow more deeply in our own baptismal vocation as peacemakers to help radiate Jesus’ peace into our world, and to bring healing, reconciliation, and hope.

The five key sub-themes we will explore throughout this year are as follows:

Peace from God

Peace Within

Peace with Others

Peace in Our Communities

Peace in the World

Prayer for Theme

Loving God,

You place Your peace within each of us and call us to share it with the world.

Help us become Artisans of Peace, beginning with peace in our own hearts.

Teach us to trust in You and to seek You in prayer, learning, and love.

May we build peace in our relationships,

speaking kindly, listening deeply, and showing compassion and forgiveness.

Help our school communities be places where everyone is

welcomed, respected, and valued.

Send us out as artisans of peace in the world — working for justice, harmony, and hope.

May our lives reflect Your love and mercy,

as we follow Jesus, the Prince of Peace

Amen.

This year, we will continue to support the faith formation of staff and students by emphasizing the importance of building an interior prayer life, using Scripture to deepen our understanding of our call to live as Artisans of Peace, and reaching out to our neighbours in need. Resources and support dedicated to improving our ability to be Catechists and strengthening home, school and parish relationships will continue to be a focus.
