Thursday, September 14, 2023 – On Friday, September 15, Catholic School Board staff across Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk Counties and the City of Brantford are launching their Spiritual Theme, “Catholic Education, We Are Called to Love” for the 2023-2024 School Year with a day of faith formation. Staff will attend Mass or participate in a liturgy, followed by some learning regarding Catholic Social Teachings by Father Toby Collins. The remainder of the day will be spent making connections with a variety of community agencies and partners to begin a relationship for faith in action opportunities for the entire year, involving staff, students, and the broader community. Those activities are hands-on ‘Service Learning’ opportunities that will help the formation and continuation of strong community partner relationships; who’s services many of our students and families rely on daily. These activities are directly related, translate, and support the district’s strategic priorities of Wellness, Teaching and Learning, and Belonging. This day helps prepare staff to deeply understand and have the knowledge to support the district’s 2023-24 Spiritual Theme: Called to Love #BHNCalledToLove
The community will see all staff, from educators to finance and facilities staff, engaging in ‘Service Learning’ opportunities to build and sustain relationships with community partners. The transformational Service Learning that is experienced by staff will then be taken back to all schools and sites and will continue with student and school community involvement to maintain these relationships, expand student supports, and bring to life our spiritual theme. We are excited for this opportunity to further form our faith, on this day.
