My dear friends in our Catholic school communities,
As our Catholic system grows, we have reached an important milestone with respect to our new Catholic secondary school in the city of Brantford and our new Catholic elementary school in Caledonia.
We have reached a point in the process where we are looking for suggestions from the community for the naming of our new schools and are inviting our Catholic community to provide suggested names for this decision by the Board of Trustees.
Members of the BHNCDSB community will be able to submit suggestions for the naming of the school via various methods, including but not limited to an online form on the board website or through their local school.
The current Board outlines the following criteria when a new school is named:
Schools shall be designated as either “Catholic Elementary or Catholic Secondary School” in their official school’s name unless otherwise approved by the Board. A school shall be given the name of Our Lord, Our Lady, a Saint, or a Catholic tradition., and the possessive form shall not be used.
There is a link at the bottom of this message which will take you to our community consultation/feedback webpage. This page lists all feedback opportunities and includes a link to a webform which will allow you to make your school name submission(s).
Through this webform, you will have an opportunity to submit a name. (Paper options will also be available if required)
-Proposed name of school
–The rationale for the proposed name
-Name of the requestor and School/Parish community
The submission window will open today, Friday, August 25th, 2023, and will close on Sept 14th, 2023 at 4:30 pm. Submissions will be presented to the Board for consideration. The Board may remove any submission for consideration that is not deemed to be in line with our Catholic values. Should an alternate form format be required, please contact the Director’s Office by calling 519-756-6505 Ext. 223 or by emailing directorsoffice@bhncdsb.ca.
We thank you in advance for your suggestions and look forward to your continued support of publicly funded Catholic education.
