Message from Chair Rick Petrella

Dear families,

We understand that a boundary review is a challenging and emotional process for any school community and the public should know that the Board, as always, is committed to making decisions that are in the best interest of the students and families.

Even though we are still at the very preliminary stages of the process, and the committee has not yet made a formal recommendation to the Board, based on the overwhelming public feedback the Board felt it needed to intervene in the process, prior to this being brought to the Board in December, and address the community concern and not prolong the uncertainty.

At a special meeting of the Board on October 31, 2023, the Board unanimously voted to direct staff and the committee to remove the following items for consideration immediately from the Brant Boundary review:

Our Board is committed and continues to work closely with our provincial partners to address the overcapacity in the Paris and Southwest Brantford areas and is actively working with our provincial partners through the capital project submissions process to obtain approval for funding for new Catholic elementary schools in these areas.

Our Board is committed to supporting and making the proper decisions that are always in the best interest of the students and families of the Board.

If you require additional information, please reach out to me at rpetrella@bhncdsb.ca.

Thank you,

Chair of the Board, Rick Petrella
