Rick Petrella Elected Catholic Board Chair for the 10th Consecutive Term

Brantford, ON – At its Annual Meeting last night, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) acclaimed Rick Petrella, Chair of the Board for the 10th consecutive term and Carol Luciani as Vice-Chair for the fifth.

In Chair Petrella’s Address to the district, he outlined his focus for the coming year including remaining fiscally responsible while supporting technology, new and innovative teaching and learning through the revised Strategic Plan, parish-parent-school partnerships, and staff negotiations.

Under Chair Petrella’s continued leadership, including building two new schools to serve its ever-growing student population, it is going to be an active and exciting school year.

“In the coming year, one of our key objectives will be to enhance the educational experience for our students while staying true to our Catholic roots and remaining fiscally responsible,” said, Chair Petrella. “Our position has always been, and will always be, one of being fiscally responsible and making sure we are always in a strong financial position as a Board. This financial stability enables us to prosper, grow, embrace, and execute opportunities when they are presented. We will strive for state-of-the-art advanced technologies in the classrooms and academic excellence while ensuring that we nurture the holistic development of our students fostering their spiritual, moral, and social growth.”

Many administrators and staff attended the Board elections and Annual meeting which followed a Celebration of the Eucharist presided by the Most Reverend Wayne Lobsinger, VG, EV Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Hamilton. Music Ministry was provided by Arts Consultant, Chris Rait.

INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSURE NOTICE - Due to the significant weather event and ongoing snow removal efforts, ALL transportation is cancelled and ALL schools and buildings in ALL ZONES (1,2,3,4) are closed to students and staff on Monday, January 26. All Community Use of School rentals, before and after-school child care programs, after school activities and night school classes are CANCELLED.

All SECONDARY EXAMS scheduled to be written on Monday, January 26 will be written Tuesday January 27, and the rest of the exam schedule will be pushed back one day.
