October 12, 2023, Brantford, Ont. – The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Della Fortuna as Superintendent of Education.
John is a seasoned educational leader with 18 years of experience in education and 10 years as a school and system administrator. He currently holds the position of Principal Leader of Curriculum and Student Achievement K-12 at the Grand Erie District School Board. In his leadership roles, John has a demonstrated track record of building relationships and driving innovation and positive change with his experience in E-learning and alternative education.
“John is a leader in supporting student and staff well-being and has expertise in school culture transformation,” said Director of Education, Mike McDonald. “He prioritizes wellness for all and leadership development and I look forward to his ability to foster a supportive and faith-filled learning environment for all students.”
“Mr Della Fortuna is an exciting addition to our Senior Administration Team,” said Chair of the Board, Rick Petrella. “He was successful in a highly qualified field of candidates, and we are confident that Mr. Della Fortuna will be an inspirational Catholic leader who will move the strategic vision of the Board forward as we continue to grow, including the construction of our new secondary school in Brantford.”
The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers faith-based education serving nearly 13,000 students from Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk Counties, and the City of Brantford. The district has over 1,700 full and part-time staff committed to Belonging, Teaching and Learning, and Wellness for all.
