Welcoming Rajini Nelson, Catholic Board’s newest Superintendent

Monday, December 16, 2024 – The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board (BHNCDSB) is pleased to announce that today, Rajini Nelson is joining the Board as the new Superintendent of Business and Treasurer.

Rajini Nelson, a CPA, CGA, with years of financial leadership in the areas of budget, finance and accounting in the public education sector and private industries.  She brings 18 years of experience and progressively held leadership roles working for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB), most recently as the Assistant Comptroller of Budget and Financial Reporting.

“Ms. Nelson is a faith-filled professional with extensive experience serving internal stakeholders, trustees, senior administration, school administrators, and department staff. She also has collaboratively worked with external stakeholders such as auditors, ministries, and municipal partners,” said Carol Luciani, Chair of the Board. “The Board of Trustees is confident that she will be a valuable addition to our Senior Administration team, ensuring the effective allocation of resources to prioritize student achievement, our Catholic identity and successful outcomes for all.”

“I am excited to bring my experience, which has contributed to the successful completion of major projects for the TDSB, to the BHNCDSB,” said Ms. Nelson. “My focus will be on repurposing funds, addressing resources for staffing needs, supporting diversity, and creating inclusive and equitable outcomes for all, while maintaining a balanced budget. I look forward to joining the BHNCDSB Catholic community.”

“We are thrilled to have Rajini join our Senior Administration team,” said Director of Education, Mike McDonald. “She is an exemplary Catholic leader who brings extensive experience in the areas of finance and budgeting that will help the BHNCDSB realize the goals of our strategic plan. With increasing enrollment and growing demands on resources in the coming years, her focused financial acumen and problem-solving skills will greatly benefit the students, staff, and parents in our community.”

The Trustees and staff of the BHNCDSB extend their warmest welcome and congratulations to Ms. Nelson on her appointment as Superintendent of Business and Treasurer.
